So when it came down to coming up with a concept, we decided to take a cue from the past and do a classic rock poster style design, but with a decidedly modern twist. Using our crosscut logo as the starting point, the standard palm tree was replaced by a date palm, which is a main crop in the Coachella Valley. Our machete was replaced by drumsticks. The acid trip lettering was replaced by a stylized pixaçao rendition of Coachella. All hand drawn, take a look.

With utmost respect and appreciation, we’d like to introduce another member of the Us Versus Them Family. To us, Tommy Montoya represents a true American success story. Raised in East Los Angeles. Tommy overcame the adversity prevalent in his neighborhood to become an extremely talented tattoo artist who has climbed through the industry ranks the old fashion way and has worked next to some of the most accomplished names in the game. The hard working ethics and raw talent Tommy possesses led him to be chosen as one of the main leads on the upcoming New York Ink series which is slated to air on the TLC channel in the months to come.

In addition to introducing you to Tommy, we felt it was also necessary to document some stories from his father Mike Montoya to really illustrate where Tommy’s roots come from and give you a more personal view of his history and up bringing. Their testaments of life were inspiring on many levels, and we feel a deep sense of gratitude towards them for allowing us to share them with all of you.

So with this in mind, to coincide with the opening of the pop up shop, UVT co-founder Mike Glory curated “Wive’s Tales”, a showcase of three tattoo artists who we have seen grow to the top of their game and can truly be called UVT family. Featuring Luke Wessman, Menso, and Frankie Caraccioli, each artist created a piece that speaks on superstitions and folk tales, and we have created a video series to introduce each artist to our extended family-all of our loyal supporters. We will be making limited edition product based on the pieces that will be available at the opening, including shirts, fleece, hats and prints.

To match the aggressive nature of the technical specs, we gave the bike our signature treatment, choosing a metallic grey paint for the base color of the frame, and wrapping our tonal hand drawn snake scale print around the front, and our brand motto “Never Stop” is printed on the brake bridge along with UVT/SE branding on the seat tube.

These are now available in extremely limited quantity at our online store.
