UPDATE: We just received a shipment of the tees, which are currently available in our online store.

So I’m sure most everyone has heard about the Gulf Oil Spill. If you haven’t, do yourself a favor and get your head out of your ass and check the news. Basically an offshore oil rig that was supposedly the most technically advanced in the world suffered an explosion, which set of a chain of events leading to it sinking and rupturing the well. This created 3 leaks which are now spewing upwards of 200,000 gallons a day, and there is a possibility that the daily flow could increase much higher.
The spill has already reached the Louisiana shore, and is in danger of riding currents East to the Florida Keys, home to one of the best networks of coral reefs in the world. If the oil reaches there the effects could be catastrophic.
Some pictures for perspective:

That might look pretty, but you see the darker areas on the water? Thats the oil spill. The black area in the upper corner is the mississippi delta. And how was this photo taken, you might be wondering… Some passenger in a jet flying over it? No, it’s a photo taken from the SPACE STATION by astronaut Soichi Noguchi who has been twittering about what he’s been seeing.

BP which stands for Beyond Petroleum, likes to advertise itself as being a pioneer in alternative energy, and even has a lovely green and yellow logo based on leaves. The problem is since their current CEO has been in place their alternative energy investment has dropped to nearly nothing, and their efforts to manipulate our government has increased. They fund and man protests designed to look like ordinary citizens fighting against climate change legislation. They also fund “scientific” foundations in order to release studies that show results that favor their profit margin. So, really, fuck BP.
So when the spill started getting out of control I immediately reminded myself of a tee we did back in 2007 that featured a tongue in cheek reappropriation of the Sherman Williams logo as an oil can covering the earth with its crude. The image brings to mind the old illustrations of an octopus holding the world in its grasp- a visual representation of too much control being held by one group or company. When we released it there was an accompanying photo across the bottom of the Exxon Valdez to keep the satirical meaning easy to see. So it seems only fitting now to bring it back again. However this time I have included a nice little message for BP’s upper management, along with changing their logo’s color scheme to more accurately represent their interests.
50% of the proceeds from the sale of this tee will contribute towards funding 2 cleanup efforts along the gulf coast. The National Wildlife Foundation is already organizing cleanup efforts on the ground, and another group, Matter of Trust, collects donated hair from salons and people around the world which they use to weave large mats. These doormat sized pads are one of the most effective ways to clean oil off of beaches because of hair’s natural oil absorption properties. If you’d like to donate to these efforts directly, each site has multiple options for you to help.
So, back to the tee…

AND THE AWAY COLORS

We are now taking pre-orders for this tee HERE, which will start shipping out in about a week and a half. For those of you not familiar with our product, we use AAA standard weight tees, so if you are used to slimmer fitting tees, please size down. And we are also aware that not everyone is comfortable wearing something with such a *ahem* strong statement, to which i suggest investing in about 4 inches of electrical tape with which to self censor. Just make sure you leave the F— or it simply loses the point.

Thank you.

I’m glad that BP is finally starting to get the spill under control.
hey folks,
I live here in New Orleans and I love your T for the spill/nightmare. I tried twice to pre-order three of them and for some reason your end couldn’t process the payment. I plan to attend the press conferences that BP will begin holding here in the city and really, really, really, want to have at least one of these shirts to wear, in lieu of carrying a sign which can be confiscated. If there is any, any way at all , that I could somehow purchase a medium or large, black if I can get it, white if it’s all you could part with……..I would be ever, grateful, would pay double. Your design just nails it so hard.
let me know how that might go and thanks for just having the very best design out there, that says it all for this nightmare we have been gifted with by those who would take us, Beyond Petroleum.

Ok They “bp” Tries to cap it. Then do there top kill. Why does it take 3 day’s for a back up plan. They should have there back up plan’s out there and do it that day.. What’s up with this government? We can fly to the moon but can’t stop this.. So fucked up. Prayer’s are with all LA and golf coast states..
BP should do nothing less than pay the salaries of those affected until the water is clean enough to go back to work. If that never occurs pay until they are broke – period. That is truly the only fair thing to do.
this is not going to be cleaned up anytime soon it will take 20 years, possibly longer and the effects will last centuries. the media lies to you
Have any of you heard about the rant by that idiot Ben Stein on TMZ that “BP did nothing wrong and they should Not be prosecuted!”
“Not be prosecuted” is Ben Stein a total Fuck up or what???
The lawyer owner of TMZ Harvey Levin stated that Stein was tottaly wrong and that they are liable and should be prosecuted!!!
Maybe you should have a T shirt saying Ben Stein is a Fuck Up or an Idiot or what have you.
I agree with everything,they fucked up everybody’s plans.I need A t-shirt!
awesome site, awesome shirt. BP did fuck up. I keep asking myself, what the fuck were they thinking. This is a prime example of what assholes will do to line their pockets. These guys should be prosecuted for what they have done, for they now have no control over this disaster now. The effects of this spill can be CATASTROPHIC to out beautiful mother earth. They had no business drilling at those depths at which they had no control over any mishaps which could have occurred. I know some of you fuckers may say “well you drive a car, your a consumer of their product” well fuck that! I’d rather walk if it meant having a safe clean planet for my daughter to grow up in. BP should be COMPLETELY LIABLE and have to surrender every last dollar they have to clean up efforts even if it means they go bankrupt. THIS SPILL IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic blog! I actually love how it is easy on my eyes and the information are well written. I am wondering how I might be notified whenever a new post has been made. I have subscribed to your rss feed which must do the trick! Have a nice day!
