This year I was lucky enough to get a decent amount of traveling in and not have to go broke doing it, which is pretty much my only requirement. I’m not the type of guy who needs to be pampered while on vacation (not that its bad!), just give me a place to sleep and i’ll be more content cruising around with the locals than staying in some all-inclusive resort crap.
Had the chance to go sailing in the caribbean for a week in St. Lucia with my daughter earlier this summer. After spending a week doing that I dont think i could ever stay in a hotel again if I were to return. The fact that you can simply pull anchor and move to a new bay each day for free or at most $18 bucks is rad because you’re not dependent on paying an arm and a leg for taxis to get around the island (and believe me, you’ll pay it down here).
First things first, had to get to LAX at 5am… ugggh.
Halfway there, over the Everglades of south Fla’ada. Crazy how half of this whole state used to be like this…

We landed in the middle of the night and had to take a taxi from the bottom of the island back up to the Rodney Bay up at the top. Rodney bay is the main bay of the island, with the largest town, Castries straddling the south end of it. On friday nights in the Gros Islet neighborhood (located in the middle of the panorama) the streets turn into a huge block party they call jump ups. The shit is so loud you can hear it miles away.
This was my front porch for the next week.
